Mumbai panchang — local sunrise, tithi and rahu kaal
Mumbai panchang is a coastal, business-city almanac: local sunrise on the Arabian Sea, tithi for vrat, and rahu kaal that traders and families still glance at before openings and travel.
- Coordinates
- 19.08° N, 72.88° E
- Typical sunrise
- about 6:00–7:05 AM IST depending on season
- Calendar note
- Marathi and Gujarati communities in Mumbai may follow slightly different festival lists (for example regional new year days) while sharing the same city sunrise for rahu kaal.
Longitude puts Mumbai west of Bengaluru and Hyderabad, so solar events are not interchangeable with Deccan cities. A “noon muhurta” screenshot from Pune is close but not identical; a Delhi screenshot is simply the wrong clock.
Ganeshotsav, Gudi Padwa, and coastal Koli and Gujarati observances sit on top of the same lunar tithi engine. The daily panchang will not replace a mandal schedule, but it tells you whether the tithi has already turned when you start a morning visarjan or a shop puja in Dadar or Borivali.
Local trains and office hours make rahu kaal a “don’t start the paperwork in this slot” tool rather than a day-off. If your only free slot overlaps the window, reschedule the beginning, not the entire workday.
Tithi.live lists Mumbai sunrise, sunset, tithi, nakshatra and rahu kaal together so you do not juggle three apps. Language can be switched toward Marathi or Hindi in the UI while the numbers stay city-true.
Practical tips for Mumbai
- Monsoon cloud cover does not change rahu kaal; the window is solar-arithmetic, not weather.
- For island-city travel to the mainland, still use Mumbai sunrise, not a Pune page.
- Ganesh Chaturthi tithi can straddle two civil dates — check the day’s tithi card, not only the public holiday.
